La Isla Holbox sits 5 miles off of the northern tip of the Yucatan.  It is a destination for large migrating Tarpon and a year round fishery for Baby Tarpon and Snook.

Large migrating Tarpon cruise by Holbox in the months of May through August.  These fish are sometimes caught up to sizes over 200 pounds.  Using a 12 weight rigged with 500 grain lines, 100 pound bite tippet. and size 6/0 flies is the norm.  When the morning search for large adults is over, it's time to chase Baby Tarpon.  These "babies" can range from a pound to 30 pounds.  Using an 8 weight rod with a floating line, 40 pound bite tippet, and a 1/0 or 2/0 fly is the norm.
