Scott STS 908/3

For 2008, Scott decided to bring back the STS series of rods.  If one is looking for a rocket, look no further.  This model, 908/3, is a 3 piece 9 foot 8 weight.

I would classify this rod as an ultra fast shooting head slinger.  I regularly use a Sage TCR 890-4.  The STS 8 weight is much stiffer.  For me to get a good bend in the rod, I would use a 350 grain head.  On my TCR, I feel at home with a 300 grain head.  Once loaded properly, shooting 70, 80, 90, or 100 feet is easy.  For those who fish for Striped Bass in the Sacramento River Delta, this is a great rod choice.  Surf fishermen could use this rod to their advantage, too.

My only dislike for the rod is that it's a three piece.  Traveling with this rod could be difficult if trying to pack it in a suitcase or trying to get it on a plane as carry-on.  Please remember that traveling policies can vary even though TSA has established guidelines.

If I were to own this rod, it would strictly be for local waters or longer road trips.
