Fly Fishing Specialties keeps on adding new materials every week. I will try to add them to the e-commerce site as soon as they come in.
I first saw Mottlebou during a tying presentation by Andy Burk last year. He had this strung up marabou that was all speckled. There are a lot of browns, oranges, tans, greys, and other shades mixed in. It looked like it would make some great tailing materials for buggers and other streamers. Unfortunately I forgot to ask him who the supplier was.
Just recently Brett Drury, the FFS tying instructor, found Mottlebou in the Spirit River catalog. FFS just brought it in. Mottlebou is the hottest selling new material in the Citrus Heights store. It's hard to keep it in stock!
Here are a couple of buggers using Mottlebou. For the first fly, I am using Doug's Bugs Glo Brite Chenille in Brown-N-Copper. The clump of marabou that I used is a darker shade which looks great with the body. The second fly uses Wapsi Varigated Chenille in yellow and brown. Orangish color of the marabou highlights that varigated body.
